CLIMBING PLANTS AS AN AESTHETIC AND FUNCTIONAL SOLUTION
Present in all eras as a decorative element, often making a great impact on facades and buildings.
There are several types, some with anchoring ‘feet’ and others without, but still considered as part of the family.
Useful for air cleaning, they soften the perception of the urban environment and help make it more natural and harmonious. The most famous among climbing plants is clearly the Ivy (Hedera Helix), which, with its covering, masks and colonizes surfaces, creating vast green walls. Another renowned climber is the Boston Ivy (Parthenocissus Tricuspidata), which, equipped with a special anchoring organ under its leafs, attaches to any type of surface and takes on shades of red, yellow, and orange during autumn. Aesthetically very pleasing! While in Northern Italy, the Star Jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides) is among the most used because it has no special requirements and, in return, offers a very rich and fragrant bloom every year from the end of April to the end of May.
