They really exist and can save us from the air pollution that prevails in the environment we live in, especially in cities. But which are these lifesaving trees? Here is a ranking so to understand together the role of our beloved trees around us.
At the top of the list there is Acer Platanoides, which absorbs up to 3,800 kilograms of CO2 in twenty years, mitigates pollution, and reduces heat in urban environments. Studies on the structure of its leaves have confirmed their ability to reduce CO2 circulation in the air. Next, we find Celtis Australis, also known as the nettle tree, a spontaneous plant belonging to the Ulmaceae family. This species is native to Southern Europe, North Africa, and Asia Minor. In third place is Ginkgo Biloba, an ancient tree that can absorb 2,800 kilograms of CO2 and that provides immense protection against gases, dust, and heat. In fourth place are two species of lime trees: Tilia Platyphyllos and Tilia Cordata.
